Sony's 84" 4K TV is available for pre-order today. (4K offers nearly four times the resolution of today's 1080p high resolution TV's.) You will need a fair amount of pocket change available as this little puppy will set you back a cool $24,999.99 (only the marketing geniuses at Sony could make this seem so incredibly appealing and desirable by discounting the price by a penny). This is a $3,000 premium over the 84" 4K TV that Samsung rolled out just this past summer.
So here we are at the brink of a new shift in TV technology. The drums are beating louder....4K is coming and it is going to suck all of the oxygen out of the room for 1080p. Are you in?
I beliieve Sonys are overpriced for what you get, and customer service is an oxymoron. Having said that, while 4K is the latest thing, it will be years (likely) before the networks have cameras with that resolution - or so I've been reading. Ergo, I'll stick to my Pioneer Kuro Elite 1080 plasma that has a drop dead amazing picture. When the day comes that it sadly ceases to exist, I'll start investigating 4K.
ReplyDeleteSince Pioneer no longer makes high end TV's, but many of their engineers went to Panasonic. Samsung also makes a pretty good product.
I concur...Sony sucks. For 1080p, the Pioneer Kuro Elite 1080 plasma is the gold standard. It is the very best out there.
